The Heart of Hastings Hospice seeks enthusiastic team player for the part time position of Community Coordinator.  The position acts as a resource person to spread community awareness of the services that Hospice offers to those in our catchment area including individuals, community groups, businesses and other health care and community service agencies. These efforts act to increases awareness, volunteer recruitment and expand the donor base to support a not for profit organization. The position also coordinates, organizes and leads all fundraising activities/events, and seeks new grant and funding opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, to lead a team of volunteers in assisting with events; excellent written and oral communication skills; computer literacy; experience with event planning and/or grant writing; a comfort with, and an understanding of, the importance of hospice care; ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to attend events; knowledge of health care sector is an asset.

Position Description:

Community Coordinator:

The Community Coordinator is responsible to the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Community Coordinator:

* Research, plan, implement and document current and new fundraising events and activities
*Promote and recognize third party fundraising on behalf of Hospice
*Develop and maintain community relationships through the use of traditional, electronic and social media (liaise with media contacts, issue press releases, coordinate advertising, coordinate newsletter content and distribution)
*Represent Hospice at community events, including public speaking
*Support fundraising volunteers
*Utilize donor management software
*Coordinate annual direct appeal campaigns
*Enhance Planned Giving/Legacy programs
*Research and apply for grants
*Prepare fundraising reports
*Prepare a monthly report to the board
